My Turn | Etching

My Turn, 2015, etching and aqua tint on Rives BFK Heavyweight paper

Measures at approximately 9 x 11.5 inches (22.86 x 29.21cm

This etching has been made on a copper plate as a mirror image and printed by an etching press.

Every etching is inked by hand and is thus an unique and original artwork.

It has an edition of 18 and is signed and numbered.

The seductive, curvy, and classically beautiful female in this etching shines brightly in a dark ambiguous space. However, despite her angelic presence, she appears to be holding a dismembered head--which belongs to Perseus--as referenced by his curls and signature winged helmet. This etching illustrates a parallel universe where Medusa captures, murders, and holds the head of Perseus. Connecting to my own Greek heritage, I recreated this famous mythological tale in a contemporary context, where the villain succeeds.
